Today Tuesday February 19 2013, our general elections is completed.Numerous parties contested keenly in the various constituencies to win one of the fifteen seats up for grabs to become members of the new parliament to be formed which would lead Grenada for the next five years. I was overwhelmed with a feeling of indifference the entire time that the results of the various polling stations were being announced by the Supervisor of Elections, Mrs. Judy Bennoit. At the same time I was cross referencing the information being received with results of the previous two or three elections formerly held here.
The New National Party (NNP) whose symbol is the house won the elections with a landslide victory as they had done in one previous election that was held in 1999.This means that no member of the opposition party was even elected to be a member of the opposition.
